For this particular job, we were tasked with vegetation maintenance in Bwllfa, Rhondda Cynon Taf, in the South of Wales. You may know Bwllfa as the site of the old Bwllfa and Merthyr Dare Coal Collieries – now the Dare Valley Country Park. However, for the residential areas of Bwllfa, the threat of thorny plants creeping up peoples’ porches is less picturesque and more inconvenient.
You can see the thickness of the blackberry bramble vine even near the top of the plant, and when allowed to grow this much, the lower entanglements will be even bulkier.

As you can see, the brambles have threaded together into a massive thicket. To clear this amount of strong blackberry vines manually with garden shears would have taken days, even with multiple people.
