Softwood Logs

In the case of fireplaces, softwood logs are good fire starters. They burn quickly since they’re not as solid as hardwood logs: which is what makes them effective at generating the initial heat necessary for a healthy fire. On the other hand, if you want to stick to burning only one type of log then you forfeit time saved refuelling, and extra softwood logs, in keeping your fire alive.

even if you’ve been lighting fires for years – the satisfaction of watching a well-dried softwood log catch is something. We offer our softwood in small net bags, as well as larger dumpy bags of logs, as well as in cubic meters.

'Nicest and most helpful work group I've ever come across. When working in a public park, they went above and beyond to help people access the field and play area, and allow dog walkers through. They even cut up some felled tree trunks for me to use in my elderly parents' garden, and refused to take anything in return. (And everyone was using PPE, which is a rarity in itself!).'

This company went above and beyond to assist me with purchasing a property which had Japanese Knotweed in the garden. Without the support from the staff at Mancoed the house purchase would have fallen through. The customer service is second to none and I can’t recommend them enough! Huge thanks to the team who supported me, Ash x

High-Quality Softwood Logs

The higher the moisture content of the logs for sale the heavier the wood becomes. This means when buying softwood logs you may end up paying more for wood with higher moisture content. In turn, these wetter logs may prove inefficient for burning, as opposed to our softwood logs are kiln dried to a moisture content of between 14% and 18%. The low moisture content allows for the easy burning experience you expect from softwood. This is ideal for weaker log burning stoves that cannot reach the temperatures required to burn dense hardwood logs or much larger pieces of wood.

Our kiln dried softwood logs are a very popular choice for many homeowners as they can be used in both fireplaces and wood stoves. The moisture content has been lowered to increase heat output and length of burn. Perfect for:

  • Easy transport if property access is a problem.
  • Great to use in Pizza ovens or wood-fired stoves or just your multi-fuel appliance.
  • Perfect size for a weekend’s burn.

Our kiln-dried, split softwood logs have been the favourite of homeowners looking to create ambience with their home’s open fireplace or heat their living space through the use of a stove since we opened. Our softwood logs come from recycled timber that is produced by our Tree Surgeon teams in various regions of England and Wales.
